Terms of Use

Last updated: March 5, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Tech Events Globe ("the Platform", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must discontinue use of the Platform immediately.

The Platform is developed and maintained by an individual developer ("the Developer", "the Owner"). It is not operated by a registered company or legal entity.

2. Description of the Service

Tech Events Globe is a web-based application that allows users to discover, explore, and bookmark global technology conferences and events through an interactive 3D globe interface. Features include category filtering, event bookmarking, a live network feed, travel integrations, GitHub-based authentication, and the Travel Buddies feature for connecting with other attendees from the same country.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Platform. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement. Users under the age of 18 should review these Terms with a parent or legal guardian.

4. User Accounts & GitHub Authentication

  • Access to certain features requires authentication via GitHub OAuth. By logging in through GitHub, you authorize the Platform to access basic profile information as permitted by GitHub's own terms and policies.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • You agree to notify the Developer immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
  • The Developer reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts at his sole discretion (see Section 8).

5. Privacy & Data Collection

The Developer is committed to handling your data responsibly. By using the Platform, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

5.1 Data Collected

  • GitHub profile data: username, avatar, and public profile information obtained at login.
  • Bookmarked events: events you save to your personal profile.
  • Geolocation data: only if you explicitly opt in to the travel arcs feature. This data is used solely to render arcs on the globe and is not stored permanently.
  • Usage activity: interactions such as bookmarking events may appear in the live public network feed, subject to your privacy settings.
  • Origin country: optionally provided to enable Travel Buddy matching (country-level only).
  • Social channel handles: optionally provided (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Mastodon, Discord). Displayed to other users only if your profile is public and you have expressed travel buddy interest.
  • Travel buddy interest: when you opt in to the Travel Buddies feature for a specific event, your interest is stored until the event end date, then permanently deleted.
  • Terms acceptance: the date and version of these Terms you accepted, stored for compliance purposes.

5.2 Privacy Controls

Users may adjust the public visibility of their profile and bookmarked events through the in-app settings. It is the user's responsibility to configure these settings according to their preferences.

5.3 Data Sharing

The Developer does not sell personal data to third parties. Data may be processed by third-party infrastructure services (e.g., hosting providers) strictly for the purpose of operating the Platform.

5.4 Data Retention

User data is retained as long as the account remains active. Users may request deletion of their data by contacting the Developer directly.

5.5 Travel Buddies

The Travel Buddies feature facilitates discovery only. The Platform displays the profiles and social channel handles of users who have opted in to being visible, to help them connect with potential travel companions heading to the same event.

  • The Developer is not responsible for any interactions, arrangements, or outcomes between users who connect via this feature.
  • Users are solely responsible for verifying the identity and trustworthiness of any person they choose to contact.
  • You may remove your travel buddy interest at any time. It is also automatically deleted when the event ends.
  • Private-profile users are never shown by name or social handle, regardless of their interest level.

6. Third-Party Integrations

The Platform integrates with or links to the following third-party services:

By using these integrations, you are also subject to the respective terms of service and privacy policies of each third-party provider. The Developer has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, practices, or availability of any third-party services. Links and integrations are provided for convenience only and do not constitute an endorsement.

7. Acceptable Use

  • Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.

  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Platform without prior written consent.

The Developer reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Violation of these Terms.
  • Abusive, harmful, or fraudulent behavior.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE DEVELOPER, THE TEAM, AND ANY AFFILIATED INDIVIDUALS SHALL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OF ANY KIND ARISING FROM THE USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE PLATFORM.

This includes, without limitation:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities.
  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages.
  • Any event beyond the Developer's reasonable control (force majeure), including server outages, third-party failures, or cyberattacks.

12. Changes to These Terms

The Developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. When changes are made, the "Last updated" date at the top of this document will be revised. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Developer resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

14. Contact

For any questions, data deletion requests, or concerns regarding these Terms, please contact the Developer directly through the Platform's official repository or communication channels.
