1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Tech Events Globe ("the Platform", "the Service") collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal information of its users ("you", "your").

The Platform is developed and operated by Federico Bagato, an independent developer ("I", "me", "the Developer"). I am committed to handling your data with transparency, respect, and in compliance with applicable privacy regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

3. Data We Collect

3.1 Data You Provide Directly

  • GitHub profile information: When you log in via GitHub OAuth, we receive your GitHub username, display name, avatar URL, and public profile data as permitted by GitHub's API scope. We do not access your private repositories or email unless explicitly authorized.
  • Bookmarked events: Events you save to your profile are stored and associated with your account.
  • Origin country: Your country of origin (ISO country code, e.g. "IT"), optionally provided for the Travel Buddies feature. Country-level only — no city or precise location is stored for this purpose.
  • Social channel handles: Optional handles for Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Mastodon, and Discord, provided to enable other users to contact you as part of the Travel Buddies feature. These are only displayed to others if your profile is public.
  • Travel buddy interest: When you express interest in finding travel companions for a specific event, we store your event ID, your chosen visibility level (anonymous or visible), and an expiry date matching the event end date.

3.2 Data Collected Automatically

  • Geolocation data: Only if you explicitly opt in to the travel arcs feature. This data is used in real time to render animated arcs on the globe and is not permanently stored.
  • Analytics data: We use Vemetric, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to collect anonymous, aggregated data including page views and in-app events (e.g., filter usage, globe interactions). This data is fully anonymized — no personal identifiers are collected or stored through Vemetric.
